Colorado Gives Day, Dec. 10
Community First Foundation and FirstBank announce Colorado Gives Day 2013
For the fourth year, online initiative encourages Coloradans to “Give Where You Live” and raise millions for nonprofits
Community First Foundation, an Arvada-based foundation dedicated to increasing community generosity and involvement, and FirstBank, Colorado’s largest locally owned bank, are pleased to announce the return of Colorado Gives Day, an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. In addition to fundraising, Colorado Gives Day raises awareness of the state’s nonprofit sector and educates communities on the benefits of online giving.
Once again, Lupus Colorado is involved in Colorado Gives Day. “It is an uplifting day. People reflect on the causes that are most important to them and give knowing that their dollars will be leveraged, resulting in a maximum benefit for those in Colorado who have been diagnosed with lupus,” said Lupus Colorado Executive Director Debbie Lynch.
Colorado Gives Day 2013 will take place during a 24-hour period on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013. Community First Foundation and FirstBank have partnered on this initiative since inception three years ago, distributing $8.7 million to Colorado nonprofits in 2010, $12.8 million in 2011 and $15.7 million in 2012.
“Thanks to generous Coloradans and hardworking nonprofits, we’ve seen the impact of Colorado Gives Day build dramatically over the last three years in every way,” said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “Not only the dollars raised, but the number of nonprofits and donors contributing to the success of the day has also grown tremendously. We look forward to continuing this momentum through Colorado Gives Day 2013.”
FirstBank will continue its role as corporate partner of Colorado Gives Day, committing $600,000 to the 2013 campaign. FirstBank committed $600,000 to Colorado Gives Day 2012, $500,000 in 2011 and $300,000 in 2010.
“Since its launch in 2010, Colorado Gives Day has helped raise $36 million and has brought our state together to support this initiative,” said John Ikard, CEO of FirstBank Holding Company. “It has truly become a philanthropic staple in Colorado and we’re proud to have contributed more than $1.4 million to Colorado Gives Day since its inception. We look forward to Colorado Gives Day 2013 and anticipate it will be the most impactful yet.”
Once again, credit card and processing fees will be covered by Community First Foundation, FirstBank and other sponsors to ensure 100 percent of Colorado Gives Day donations go directly to nonprofit organizations.
